Lancers finish 4th at the 2019 'Champ' High School Golf Classic
Chris Volta

This past Monday, March 25 shaped up as one of the biggest days (excluding playoffs) of the 2019 high school boys golf season, with Justin-Siena High School, the Johnny Miller Champ Foundation and Silverado Resort and Spa partnering to host the 2019 “Champ” High School Golf Classic.

Johnny Miller, a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame and a 25-time PGA Tour champion, created the Johnny Miller Junior Golf Foundation in 1993 to promote junior golf. In 2015, the foundation was renamed the Johnny Miller Champ Foundation, to honor his father, Larry Otto Miller, and his legacy in golf.

Nineteen teams from around Northern California played in the event, with a 10 a.m. shotgun start on the Silverado North Course, the home of the PGA Tour’s Safeway Open.

There were 95 players in the field, with the top-four scores on each team counting towards their team score.

The Lancers finished in 4th place with a team score of 323 one stoke behind 3rd place R.L. Stevensen (Pebble Beach). Senior Matt Adams shot and even par 72 to earn the tournaments medalist award by two strokes.
